Chamaedorea elegans, also known as parlor palm or neanthe bella palm, is a species of small palm tree native to the rainforests in Southern Mexico and Guatemala . It is one of the most extensively sold houseplant palms in the world. The plant is a slow grower that can reach up to 6 feet tall in its natural habitat and 2-6 feet tall as a houseplant. It is one of the easiest houseplants to grow and maintain, making it an excellent choice for beginners. The plant prefers bright, indirect light but can also cope in light shade. The ideal temperature range for this plant is between 50°F and 80°F, with moderate humidity . It grows best in well-drained, peaty soil-based potting mix with an acidic to neutral pH . The plant should be watered regularly during the growing season and fed monthly. During winter, keep the compost on the dry side. Repot pot-bound plants in spring .
